Resilience practices that make a real difference
Setbacks, failure and extreme uncertainty seem to be unavoidable nowadays, so we might as well get good at navigating them. But this is easier said than done, and many of us need some expert advice before Resilience becomes our middle name. Especially for startup founders, innovators and business leaders the ability to bounce back, quickly and gracefully, is a must. Luckily, there are people out there who have studied and taught resilience practices for a long time, and in a variety of situations. One of them is Ole Høyer, the CEO & Founder of 1 Change.
I met Ole for the first time in March 2009. He had been going with his own company for less than a year, after leaving a successful career within Technology & Banking, and after having been on a big journey of personal growth and transformation. Over the years we have become close friends, and I have witnessed how more than 40 leading global organisations within banking, consulting, technology, pharma, manufacturing etc. have chosen Ole and his team to be the lead on training and coaching their leaders and high performers on how to increase resilience and capacity in all aspects of their lives - 1 change at a time. Today, more than 5.000 senior executives, leaders and employees in 15+ countries have participated in the resilience programs offered by Ole and his company.
I have also seen firsthand that Ole walks the talk. He embodies his own teachings. An example of this was when he recently got seriously ill with amoeba while traveling, and ended up spending 1 month in India. During this period Ole lost 15 kg, and one day he sent me a picture that made my heart skip a beat. It looked as if his body could give up anytime. But with a big bright smile and sparkling eyes I saw that Ole didn’t let his bodily weaknesses compromise his heart, mind and soul. We talked on the phone, and Ole shared his gratitude for the amazing doctors, the spiritual surroundings (the hospital was part of an ashram), and that his girlfriend was there with him. I remember how I felt uplifted after the conversation, because of the energy that Ole radiated, unaffected by the troublesome condition of his physical body.
Ole has trained with spiritual teachers such as Radhanath Swami, HH 17th Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje and David Deida, and it is clear to me that this work has produced results.
Combining solid business understanding with spiritual and psychological insights gives Ole a powerful platform for helping people and organisations around the World.
In this Heartful Academy session, Ole shared his story of what brought him to where he is today. He will revealed his most effective tips and practices to increase our own Resilience. And we had a look at what we, as leaders, can do for our teams, colleagues and organisations to increase resilience in these challenging times that most of us are experiencing right now.
